- I have had similar problems. I thought it was my Internet Provider but
- switched and same thing happens. Thought it happened during peak periods (like
- I was being disconnected because they were too busy), but now I'm not so sure.
- Lately its been happening when modem is cold. Actually, I wonder if USRobotics
- even implemented the full V.34 standard with regard to retrains. Does anyone
- out there have any knowledge of USR's compliance with the standard? Jim M.

- : There were 3 requests from the Cardinal to retrain and there were 3 link
- : timeouts. There were no requests from the Sportster to retrain. This
- : implies that the Cardinal is seeing problems on its receive. Try your

- I have the same problem with my USR Sporster PnP (V.34+) internal.
- I am connecting always at 28800 but not lower if the line is noisy.
- (not 26400, 19200 or whatever)
-
- The retrains requested by the other modem are ignored.
- and if the line gets very noisy the modem disconects.
-
- Sometimes it's so bad that I have to do a cold reboot to be able
- to communicate with the modem.
-
- Same thing happened under both Linux/Minicom and Windows3.11/SoftTerm.
